PN: 5185 – 1″ Hose Barb x 1″ Hose Barb with Check Valve

Check valves are mandatory when installing multiple geothermal heat pumps that have individual pressurized flow centers. The check valve prevents fluid from bypassing the ground loop through one of the adjacent heat pumps. The 5185 hose barb check valve is the perfect solution when installing multiple units with reinforced rubber hose. The fitting features 1″ hose barb connections on each side and a replaceable check valve insert. The fitting halves are sealed with an O-ring and secured with a drop of threadlocker that prevents accidental disassembly but allows field replacement or service of the check valve insert (PN 3333) if it becomes necessary. (4) all-stainless steel hose clamps are included along with a label for the outside of the pipe insulation indicating the position and installation direction of the check valve. This 5185 hose barb x hose barb check valve is compatible with any 1″ hose kit. The check valve should be installed on the discharge side of the pump as shown in the graphic below. Be sure to verify the direction of flow on the flow center used as there are two standards in the industry.

Also shown in the graphic is a Quicksetter balancing valve. This device makes commissioning multi-unit installations much simpler. When installing the Quicksetter in a reinforced rubber hose kit, adapters such as our PN 2146 1″ MPT X 1″ hose barb and a 1-1/4″ MPT X 1″ FPT bushing may be required, depending on which Quicksetter is selected.
